LETHBRIDGE - The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) donated 50 Purple Blankets to Lethbridge Member of Parliament Rick Casson, who in turn presented the blankets to three charities in his riding.
Every year, IBAC provides blankets to worthy organizations across Canada as part of a major national network of charitable giving. These blankets are a strong symbol that an insurance broker’s foremost duty is to his or her client. Insurance brokers work for their communities and their clients and that’s the reason the best insurance is an insurance broker.
In presenting the purple blankets to representatives from the Lethbridge Shelter and Resource Centre, Wood’s Homes Emergency Youth Shelter and the YWCA, Casson said he was very pleased to be involved with a project that provided warm support benefiting so many of our community’s needy.
“I salute the IBAC for undertaking such a useful program that offers tangible benefit to Lethbridge organizations tasked with aiding those in need of assistance,” he commented.
This year’s Purple Blanket Program on the Hill comes with a twist that will end up helping even more community groups from across Canada. IBAC drew the names of six Members of Parliament, representing Canada’s different regions, who were provided with 50 blankets to donate to deserving charities in their riding.
“While this year’s Blanket Program is representative of the millions of dollars of combined charitable giving of IBAC’s members; we think it is important to reinforce the
symbol of our brokers’ commitment to the communities they serve” commented Dan
Danyluk, CEO of IBAC.
